Filing my taxes

While we can’t give you financial advice on how to file your taxes, we've compiled some tax information that should help below. 

In many jurisdictions, the money you receive from your Members is considered taxable income if you earn above a certain amount per year, which means you should declare it when filing your taxes (but check with your state/local government just to be sure). A local tax/financial advisor would know for certain, so we encourage you to reach out to one for additional information.

For the 2023 tax year, the federal reporting threshold will remain at $20k for payment / marketplace platforms (aka Sunroom). This means that for 1099-K forms, the IRS requires filing if, in a calendar year, the gross amount of total reportable payments exceeds $20,000.

Filing requirements for some states might differ from federal requirements. See below for a breakdown of state requirements. 

Please note: just because we aren't reporting the income to the IRS doesn't explicitly make it tax exempt, so we always recommend for creators to consult with a tax professional on whether they will need to include their Sunroom earnings as taxable income.

As always, we do not do any tax reporting for non-US based creators, they are responsible for any taxes on their end.
